Introducing the Antenna Bureau of the Netherlands
The Antenna Bureau provides objective information to promote a positive image and accurate understanding of all aspects of antenna use. It hopes this will help to speed up procedures and assist in the implementation of the Antenna Policy.

The Antenna Bureau is responsible for:

  • Providing information to government, the general public and private organisations (including operators) by maintaining a helpdesk and an Internet site, issuing publications and contributing to information sessions;
     
  • Advising and supporting government authorities in the implementation
    and maintenance of the National Antenna Policy;
     
  • The supply function: identifying and communicating about potential antenna erection sites;
     
  • Reporting on developments in antenna use nationally for policy evaluation purposes.   


National Antenna Policy
In the past, business people and the general public have had a lot of questions about antennas. These have mainly resulted from uncertainty in the areas of town and country planning and public health. At the same time, the operators have had to contend with a lack of antenna erection sites. To clarify these issues, the Cabinet has drawn up the National Antenna Policy document. The aim of the National Antenna Policy is to encourage and facilitate the provision of sufficient antenna erection sites within clear frameworks relating to public health, the environment generally and safety.

Covenant
The covenant is a consequence of the National Antenna Policy adopted by Cabinet in december 2000 and approved by the Lower House. The aim of the covenant is to facilitate quick and careful placement of antenna installations for mobile telecommunications.
